Daryl Orlich Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daryl A. Orlich, 70, of Berlin, CT.  He passed away at home on Friday, March 22, 2024, surrounded by his family after a year long and hard fought battle with cancer.

Born in New Britain, CT on January 8, 1954, he was the son of the late Carl A. Orlich and the late Stephanie (Pospiech) Eknoian.  Daryl attended E.C. Goodwin Technical High School and graduated from Berlin High School in 1973.  Daryl was employed at Stan Chem for 47 years, retiring as Vice President of Sales for their Albi division in March, 2023.  All of the opportunities his profession provided, the places he was able to experience, and the ability to meet many people that he called not only colleagues, but friends, were the highlights of his career.

In 1976 Daryl married Sharon Wennberg and together they enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Their family was made complete when their daughter and son arrived. He had such a great love for watching all of his family’s endeavors and activities, all of his friends and the laughs he had as they traveled near and far, and the many colleagues he worked with whether in person, or on the many phone calls he had with them.  Daryl’s favorite place was Maine.  He loved sharing his beloved state with those closest to him.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Sharon Orlich; his daughter and son by marriage, Lindsay and David Perzan of Southington, CT; his son and daughter by marriage, Christopher and Kristin Orlich of North Andover MA.; 6 grandchildren; Linnea, Maya, and Makayla Perzan and Dylan, Jace, and Presley Orlich; his sister and brother-in-law Diane and Paul Richards of New Hartford, CT; his brother Daniel Orlich of Palm Coast, FL.; his step-mother Judy Orlich; half brother Richard Orlich, and half sister Dena Orlich, all of New Britain; his mother-in-law Grace Wennberg of Kensington CT; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Carl, his step-father Michael Eknoian, and his father-in-law Roy Wennberg.

Daryl’s family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Lawrence Giove and his staff, as well as Hartford Healthcare Hospice staff for their care and compassion.
