Geraldine "Gerry" F. (Henry) Valuk

Geraldine “Gerry” Frances Valuk, (age 77) of Berlin, wife of Daniel Valuk, passed away on March 23, 2024 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut.

Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Helen (Vacek) Henry.  Gerry graduated from East Hartford High School in 1964. She received a Bachelor and Masters Degree from Central Connecticut State College. She lived in East Hartford and was married in 1969 to Daniel and lived in Berlin for 50 years.  She was a French teacher for many years and was later employed as a training supervisor at Webster Bank. Gerry was a devoted member of the Kensington United Methodist Church, where she had served as Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Choir member, member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry, and staffed the Church Berlin Fair Booth.

Surviving are her husband, Daniel Valuk; her daughter, Christine Manzi of Kensington; two sons, Timothy Valuk wife Bernadette of Matawan, NJ and Richard Valuk and his wife Marcie of Berlin; a sister, Jean Mills and her husband John of Moncks Corner, SC; a brother, George Henry and his wife Toni of Lake Havasu, AR; and seven grandchildren, Joshua Valuk, Julia Valuk, Joseph Manzi, Nicholas Manzi, Rachael Valuk, Olivia Valuk, and Justin Valuk.  In addition to her parents, Gerry was predeceased by her son-in-law, Anthony Manzi.

A tribute will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 3 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy, Berlin.  Casual dress is suggested. The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to The Joseph and Anthony Manzi Foundation (192 Harvest Hill Road, Kensington, CT 06037).
