Vilma Legnani, 87, of Berlin, wife of Anthony P. Legnani Jr., passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Stamford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Ettore and Elvira (Populin) Toffolon. Vilma was a former New Britain resident, and a Berlin resident since 1962. She was a member of St. Paul Church, former member of the Little League Auxiliary, and the P.T.A.
Mom’s greatest joy was cooking for family and friends. She loved to bake, especially for the holidays, which was how she expressed her love for her family and friends. Mom also loved to read, and passed that love to her many grandchildren. She also loved spending time at museums, and going to Broadway plays with her sisters in her younger years.
Surviving are her husband, Anthony P. Legnani Jr., with whom she enjoyed 67 years of marriage; three children, Anthony E. Legnani of Southington, Lori Mierzejewski and her husband James of Southington, and Dr. Peter Legnani and his wife Gina of Rowayton; a brother, Dr. Edward Toffolon of New Britain; eight grandchildren, Andrew Legnani, David Legnani, Anthony Legnani Jr., Jamie Mierzejewski, Stephen Mierzejewski, Camille Legnani, Penelope Legnani, and Eliza Legnani; a great-granddaughter, Diana Legnani; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Anna Marie Ravalese (Patsy), Zoa Wivell (James), and a sister-in-law, Anne Toffolon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 10 AM directly at St. Paul Church. Burial will be in Maple Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 5-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
