Alan Gurchin

HARTFORD - Alan Gurchin, 59, of Hartford died early Sunday at his brother Robert's home in Kensington after a short battle with cancer. Born in Hartford, son of the late John and the late Alberta (Richard) Gurchin, he received his bachelor's degree from Trinity College, served in the US Navy, was most recently employed by Burns Security, and enjoyed playing his acoustic guitar and scuba diving. He is survived by five brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert Gurchin of Kensington, John and Jeanne Gurchin of Avon, Richard Gurchin of New York, Randal and Kelley Gurchin of Papillon, Nebraska, and Gregory Gurchin of Boston, and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Friday at 10am in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, Massachusetts 01701.
