Albina Ruth Urso

Albina Ruth Urso gained her angel wings on the morning of Saturday, December 21, 2024, just shy of her 93rd birthday. Albina was born January 4, 1932 and lived a long, fulfilling life. She was strong, smart, hard-working, and sassy; she lived by the motto “the squeaky wheel gets the grease.” Most of all, she was an adored wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Albina was born and raised in New Britain, CT where she lived almost all of her life. She was the youngest of seven kids in her family and fulfilled her childhood dream of being a hairdresser. Her love story began when she met the love of her life, Sebastian Urso, at a local dance. They got married soon after and had three wonderful children. When their kids were in school, Albina started working at G. Fox (which then became Filene’s and Macy’s). She worked there for many years and was very proud to work in a store where she thrived. Albina loved being a mom - especially since her kids always kept her on her toes, even until the end. Albina was a great listener, enjoyed giving advice, helping her loved ones, and wouldn’t shy away from telling someone what they needed to hear. She was also a very big advocate for making memories - something her family will cherish for the rest of their lives. Throughout her life she enjoyed many things - vanilla ice cream with strawberries and extra whipped cream, gambling at the casino, making homemade pizza and pizzelles, taking her granddaughters to NYC, going to her house at the Cape, traveling with her family, and spoiling her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Sebastian Urso, along with her daughter, Marianne Urso Darling. Albina will be greatly missed as she leaves behind some of her greatest achievements: her two devoted sons, Michael Urso and Kevin Urso along with their spouses Shellie Urso, and Syndia Serrano-Urso, respectively, as well as her son-in-law Charlie Darling, and last but certainly not least, the light of her life, her grandchildren & great-grandchildren: Lauren Rahmeier with her spouse Jacob Rahmeier and their sons Everett and Wilder Rahmeier, Rachel Urso Torres with her spouse Angel Torres, Jordan Urso, Kathryn Darling, Bryalis Torres-Serrano, and Nyla Urso-Serrano.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin is in charge of arrangements.
