Alfred Sturtevant Sr.

BERLIN - Alfred "Big Al" Joseph Sturtevant Sr., 69, of Berlin, loving husband of 40 years to Linda Ann (Rapp) Sturtevant, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, November 20, 2014. Born in New Britain on March 13, 1945, son of the late Aura and Adeline (Greco) Sturtevant, he was a life-long resident of Berlin. Al was a graduate of Mount St. Mary's University, class of 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He spent his entire career in the moving business, working until retirement for Amodio Moving and Storage, of New Britain. A faithful servant of the Lord, Al was a parishioner of St. Paul's Church, Kensington. He was a devoted husband, father and Grampie; being a Grampie was one of his true joys of life. He will be best remembered for his many acts of kindness, as he did so much for so many people; he truly lived by the "Golden Rule". He was a man of strength and stability who always unselfishly put his family first. He will be missed dearly by all. Al is survived by his devoted and caring wife, Linda, three children; daughter Susan Sturtevant, sons Alfred Sturtevant Jr., Thomas Sturtevant, his wife Anna & their children Alivea and Trace; sister Roberta White, brother & sister-in-law William & Kathleen Sturtevant, sister & brother-in-law Elizabeth and Neil Holt; several nieces, nephews and goddaughters. Funeral service will be Tuesday (November 25th) at 9 am from the Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlin Highway, Kensington, with a Mass of Catholic Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Paul's Church, 485 Alling Street, Kensington. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Berlin. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 -7 pm. Al's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to his Doctors, Ciccone and Harrison for their compassionate care, support and friendship.
