Anna Debora Lococo, age 88, beloved wife of the late Vincenzo Lococo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026 with her family by her side at her longtime home in New Britain. Anna was born March 31, 1937 in Stefanaconi, Province of Vibo Valentia, Italy to the late Domenico and Vittoria Loschiavo.
Anna was known for her warm smile, welcoming kitchen, and undying love for her family. Anna immigrated to Australia with her husband Vincenzo where the couple welcomed three sons, Tony, Dominic, and Nick. The family then moved to the United States in 1967 and was completed with the birth of their daughter Teresa. Anna worked many jobs over her career, including as a seamstress and in-home daycare provider.
Anna’s lifelong commitment to her beloved husband of 64 years, Vincenzo, was inspiring. They were lifelong parishioners at St. Ann’s Church in New Britain. Each morning, they watched Italian Mass on their television, two people of faith who trusted that God would guide them through any hard times and would be waiting for them in Heaven when their time on Earth was complete. Anna’s family is comforted knowing that she and Vincenzo are reunited.
Anna spent many – actually, most – days in the garden with Vincenzo, harvesting vegetables that she later turned into fresh Italian dishes. No one could leave the Lococo home empty handed. If you tried, Vincenzo and Anna would chase you out the door, offering tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, garlic, peppers, basil, tomato sauce, homemade wine, salami, and more. Many left the house with grocery bags so full of fresh food from the garden that the heavy bag would burst. Two generous spirits, Vincenzo and Anna never asked for anything in return. In their final years, Anna and Vincenzo spent many weekends at Sylvia and Nick’s beach house in Old Lyme, where they loved sitting and rocking on the porch swing while talking with family. Anna also spent extended time in Pennsylvania with her daughter Teresa and family, and loved visiting the farm to see her granddaughter Ariana’s horse, Jax.
Anna’s most cherished role was as “Nonna” to her fourteen grandchildren. Her grandkids have fond memories of growing up with sleepovers at Nonna and Nonno’s New Britain home, where Nonna created a warm environment that smelled of homemade chicken cutlets and Italian cooking. She would often hold her grandkids with her hands around their heads and encourage them to “cresci, cresci” – which means to grow big and tall. In her later years, Anna would sit in her chair in the living room and fire up her iPad to Facetime all of her grandkids and great grandkids from the Northeast to Australia. She lit up the dance floor at every one of her grandkids’ weddings, and was able to meet all five of her great grandchildren before her passing.
In Heaven, Anna will be reunited with her beloved Vincenzo, who passed away in 2023. Anna is also predeceased by her parents, her sister Isabella Rubino of New Britain and her husband John, brother Antonino Loschiavo of Stefanaconi, brother Ralph Loschiavo of Kensington, sisters-in-law Teresa, Rosa, Antonina and her husband Giuseppe, Ursula and her husband Giuseppe, and brother-in-law Nicola and his wife Isabella.
Anna is survived by her large, loving family: children Tony and Karen Lococo of Melbourne, Australia, Dominic Lococo of Melbourne, Australia, Nick and Sylvia Lococo of Farmington, and Teresa and David Cunningham of Chalfont, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Daniel Lococo and his wife Kristina, Jonathan Lococo and his wife Myla, Chloe Lococo and her husband Nicolas Chapman, Anabella Lococo, Daniel Holmes, Ariana Collins and her husband Sean, Bryce Cunningham, Jayden Lococo and his partner Kiya Broughton, and Sarina Lococo; and great-grandchildren Jaime Valencia Chapman, Silvio Dominic Lococo, Vincenzo Tony Lococo, Genevieve Olivia Lococo, and Francesca Katherine Lococo.
Anna is also survived by her sister-in-law Anna Loschiavo of Kensington, her brother-in-law Giuseppe Lococo, of Melbourne, Australia, and her sister-in-law Adelia Corrias of Italy, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews in the U.S., Italy, Australia, England, and Canada.
