It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony “Tony” Salvatore LaRosa, who died on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Tony died peacefully at home with his family by his side.
Tony was the son of the late Salvatore and Doris (Rampone) LaRosa. Tony loved growing up on his grandfather’s farm in Kensington where he would go fishing and play ice hockey with his friends in the winter. Tony attended local schools, participated in town sports, and was an especially talented baseball player. Tony graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School Class of 1964, where he was a member of the varsity baseball team. He attended St. John University school of Pharmacy in Jamaica Flushing NY. He did post graduate work receiving a Masters in Hospital Pharmacy. He worked for many years as the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at the former New Britain General Hospital as well as Community Pharmacy. Tony was a devoted husband, father grandfather and friend. He was kind, generous and humble, never hesitating to help someone in need, friend or not.
Tony enjoyed traveling with his wife, being outside, and driving his 1971 Buick GS. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He made sure he attended all their activities and sports functions. In addition to swinging a bat, Tony shared a joy of fishing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, soul mate, and best friend, Lucia (Sisti) LaRosa; three daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Pedro Madera, Amie and Nicholas Eliades; and Lori Staggs; four beloved grandchildren, Patton and Harper Staggs, and twins, George and Emma Eliades; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sharon LaRosa of Plymouth MA.; two sisters-in-law, Lillian and Fran McLoughlin and Marisa Pulito; a cousin, Carol Ann Bransfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Dennis Phillips, Dominic and Linda Sorrentino, James and Angela Kane, and all his Walnut Hill walking buddies for their unwavering friendship, love and support throughout Tony’s journey.
