Arden (Castonguay) Descoteaux

KENSINGTON - Arden (Castonguay) Descoteaux, 87, of Kensington, widow of Fernand "Rick" Descoteaux, passed away peacefully at home Monday with her family by her side. Born in Waterbury to the late Louis and the late Florence (Kelly) Castonguay, she graduated from Crosby High School, and had many occupations, including working as a waitress, a hostess and a dental assistant. She was also the bookkeeper for her husband's business, Promo Putt. Arden was a member of St. Paul's Church in Kensington, the Civil Air Patrol, the NRA, and Timberlain Women's Club. She loved horses and rode them in jumping competitions. When she met Rick, golf became her next passion, and they played together and enjoyed many golfing vacations together. Her other interests included country music by George Strait, dining out with friends and family, watching NASCAR racing; her favorite driver was Jeff Gordon and she was an avid follower of his career. She loved her teddy bears and dogs, and had many hobbies including knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, playing rummy, drawing and reading light mysteries. She is survived by her son, Mark Descoteaux of New Britain, her grandson, Michael and his wife Angelita, two great-grandchildren, Michael and Jasmine, her daughter, Denar Descoteaux of Kensington, her dog, Megan, two nieces, Arden Church of Norwalk and her family, and Colleen Bodiford of Oak Island, North Carolina and her family, as well as dear friends, Gwen, Lee, Barbara and Emily. She was predeceased by her sisters, Maureen (Castonguay) Hresko and Jane Castonguay, and her daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Descoteaux. A private service will be held in her honor and interment will be at South Burying Ground in Kensington. Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hartford HealthCare at Home for their devoted and loving care, to New England Home Care for their kindness and good work, and to her doctors. Mom, you were loved by all who knew you and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hartford HealthCare at Home, Attn: Hospice, 300 Queen Street, Southington, CT 06489.
