Arlene Larosa-Cristino

Arlene LaRosa-Cristino, 90, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025 with her loving family by her side after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  She is the widow of Santo “Sam” LaRosa and Anthony “Speed” Cristino.

Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Katherine Cicoli.  After raising her family in Berlin, she later retired and moved to Old Saybrook. Years later she returned to Berlin to be closer to her family. Arlene and her husband Sam, owned and operated D’Agostino-LaRosa Oil Company for many years. She was a real estate broker with a passion for helping people find the perfect home. Arlene was a member of St. Paul’s Church.

She was a proud grandmother, great-grandmother and looked forward to celebrating birthday and holidays with her family. Arlene treasured walking along the beach and collecting sea glass at her home in Old Saybrook. She spent many weekends at Mohegan Sun Casino where she enjoyed the finer things in life, playing the slots, attending events and making new friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Volz and her husband Arthur of Berlin, and Carrie Lanteri of Kensington; a brother, Jerome Cicoli and his wife Cheri of Florida; four grandchildren, Cortney Ford, Brendan Volz, Alexa and Kylie Lanteri; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Nolan and Maxwell Ford.  Arlene was predeceased by her three brothers, William Guzze Sr., Leonard Guzzi, and Alan Jennings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Paul’s Church in Kensington.  Calling hours will be Friday morning from 10-11 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Hwy, Berlin. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

The family would like extend a heartfelt thank you to Arlene’s caregiver Carlina Guzman for her love and compassion. The family is deeply grateful for the exceptional care Arlene received for over 12 years from the Smilow Cancer Center at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford from Dr Syed Bilgrami, Dr Syed Ali, Vidya Kesavan APRN and all the great nurses especially Amanda.
