Armand Catelli, 83, of Berlin, CT, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025 after a long illness. Armand was born September 20, 1941 in Burlington, VT to Paul and Albertine (LeClerc) Catelli.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth (Walker) Catelli, three daughters, Ann Catelli of Berlin, Mary Catelli of Cromwell, Jennifer Catelli and her husband Michael Person of Medford, MA, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Albert Catelli and Peter Catelli, a sister-in-law, Virginia Catelli, and a brother-in-law, John Walker.
Armand received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (1963) and a Master of Electrical Engineering (1965) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He worked in the System Planning Department at Northeast Utilities (now Eversource) for 34 years, then as a consultant in the electric power industry for several years before retirement.
His interest in hiking began when he was a Boy Scout in Rouses Point, NY, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He continued to hike well into his 70's, having climbed over 400 mountains in his lifetime. He also enjoyed square dancing, woodworking, and researching his French Canadian ancestors.
Armand was a member of Saint Josephine Bakhita Parish in Rocky Hill and the Knights of Columbus Council 10651 in that parish. He was a member of the Berlin Lions Club for over 25 years. He was a past member of the Berlin Fire Department, having served for 24 years. During that time, he was also an instructor at Hartford County Fire School for several years. He also volunteered at the Hospital of Central Connecticut as a patient escort for 14 years.
Friends may call at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Berlin, Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 5 to 7 PM. The funeral will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 280 Brook Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. Burial will follow at Wilcox Cemetery, East Berlin.
Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
