Astrid Victoria (Thorin) Poglitsch

NEW BRITAIN - Astrid Victoria (Thorin) Poglitsch, 96, of New Britain, widow of Dr. Frank F. Poglitsch, died Tuesday evening (November 11, 2014) at her home with her family at her side. Born in Sweden, daughter of the late Victor and the late Anna Thorin, she graduated from New Britain High School, was a member of South Church, and loved playing pinochle every Thursday at the New Britain Senior Center for many years. She is survived by a sister, Ann Fortner in South Carolina, a sister-in-law, Louise Thorin of Bristol, five nieces including Marsha Silva and her husband Andy of Plantsville, and two nephews including Bruce Thorin and his wife Barbara of Bristol, and Roger Thorin and his wife Nancy of New Britain. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Elaine Poglitsch, and her brother, Bert Thorin. A graveside service will be held Tuesday (November 18, 2014) at 11am in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain, The Rev. George Harris officiating. There are no calling hours.
