Barbara J. Sharpe passed away on November 19, 2025 after a short illness. She was born in Southington, Connecticut to George and Signey Olson Anderson on November 15, 1935. Barbara met her loving husband, Coleman on a blind date and after two more dates and thirteen letters (Coleman was in the Navy) they married in September of 1952 and moved to the Berlin area.
Together they raised their three children there until retirement took them to Myrtle Beach, SC where they spent many years enjoying the beach, entertaining friends and family and just being “Cush and Barb.”
Barbara was a stay-at-home mom for a while and then worked for various doctors as a medical assistant, a job which she loved because she could interact with so many different people of all ages. As her family grew the Sharpe house was the place to go for all types of gatherings, especially in high school. There were picnics, pig roasts, sleep overs and Christmas parties that had every teen showing up for. But “Sarge” made sure everyone behaved. And with every vacation, there was always an extra friend or two invited to come along.
Barbara was a great cook, but her specialty were her pies. She made the best apple and blueberry pie ever! That was the good side. She also made her children (well, not Jeff) eat liver and beets so it wasn’t all good.
She possessed a great sense of humor and her sarcasm was often evident. She was a loyal parent and friend who would do anything for you. She was the glue that held the family together and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Coleman and her son Barry and her daughter-in-law Dawn. She leaves behind her children Cheryl Parasiliti and her husband Mark of Berlin and her son Jeffrey also of Berlin. Barbara also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Jason (Heather) and Adam (Jessica) Sharpe, Michael (Danielle) and Joshua (Bre) Parasiliti and Jessica (Joe) Bak. Great-grandchildren left behind include Sydney and Coleman Sharpe, Madison Sharpe, Emma Kennington, Rinoa and Evolet Parasiliti and Theo Bak.
