Barry J. Fairwood

Barry J. Fairwood, 72, of Kensington, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 5, 2024.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Henry and Lena (Michaels) Fairwood.  He grew up in Kensington and worked as an electrician at Fafnir Bearing Co. for many years before becoming a teacher at E.C. Goodwin Technical School, retiring in 2009. In his twenties, Barry was a proud member of the Connecticut National Guard.  He was a great storyteller and his stories about his days in the National Guard and at E.C. Goodwin were always very entertaining.    He was currently serving as Secretary of the Town of Berlin Water Control Commission.

Surviving are his brothers, Joseph Fairwood of Kensington and William Fairwood of Australia; his friend and companion, Joan Baker of Berlin; his best buddy, David Kobus and family; his sister-in-law Christine Fairwood; his two daughters, Kerri Huntley and Kristin Henriques; and several grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Barry was predeceased by a brother, Robert Fairwood.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  There are no calling hours.
