Cathline Linn Shemeth

Cathline Linn Shemeth, 60, of New Britain, CT, went to be with Jesus on October 10, 2025. "Cathy" was born in Portland, Oregon, and grew up in Tokyo, Japan. She was a true musician at heart and, as a classical pianist, performed with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. She had a full-ride scholarship in piano performance to Wheaton College, but instead, decided to attend Oral Roberts University, where she graduated top of her class in nursing. Soon thereafter, she met and married Scott Shemeth. Together, they committed their lives to loving God and people, traveling and ministering to people throughout the world, before planting roots in ministry as pastors at Christian Life Church in Berlin, CT. For the next three decades, she was known by many titles, including: worship leader, registered nurse, minister, and friend. She also dedicated her life to the physical, emotional, and spiritual health and well-being of her community.

"Cathy" is survived by her husband, Scott Shemeth, and children, Luke, Chanel, Esther, and Joshua. She is also survived by her parents, Robert and Carolyn Houlihan; brother, Bruce; grandchild, Ariadne; daughter-in-"love," Taylor; and son-in-"love," Rodger.

She was the greatest mom, wife, daughter, sister, grandma, and friend in the world. Her presence created infectious joy, and if you knew her, you knew she always made everything and everyone around her better. She lived to love and help people and was naturally creative, and enjoyed playing music, painting and participating in theatrical performances, as well as games, water skiing, snow skiing, cooking, and bringing joy to people's lives. She was the light of her family and will be extremely missed.

The wake will be held at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin / Porter's (111 Chamberlain Hwy, Berlin, CT 06037) on Friday, October 17, 2025, with calling hours being 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at Christian Life Church (496 Kensington Rd, Berlin, CT, 06037) on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside committal at South Burying Ground. There will be a lunch provided at Christian Life Church at 12:30 p.m. after the committal concludes. Everyone is welcome to attend.
