Cheryl B. Murphy, 81, of Kensington, wife of John B. Murphy, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Born in Waterbury, she was the elder child of the late Frederick and Evelyn (McFarland) Boland. She was predeceased by her brother, Frederick Boland. Cheryl attended Waterbury schools and St. Mary Hospital School of Nursing. She was formerly employed as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, Newington Children’s Hospital, and Hartford Hospital before retiring. She lived in Waterbury and West Hartford before moving to Kensington in 1975. She was also a member of the St. Paul Church Choir.
Throughout her life, Cheryl embraced traveling throughout the U.S, enjoyed arts & crafts, and was a phenomenal cook. She will be remembered for her compassion, her loving friendships, her sense of humor, and the immense love she had for her husband, sons, their spouses, and grandchildren.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, John B. Murphy; and 3 sons - Michael Murphy and his wife Jennifer, Stephen Murphy and his wife Rebecca, Christopher Murphy, and 4 beloved grandchildren - Sean, Kyle, Jacob, and Molly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:30 AM at St. Paul Church in Kensington. Burial will be in Maple Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on, Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 4-7 PM and Friday, February 13, 2026 from 10-11 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin.
