Conrad Swanson of Berlin, CT, age 91, husband of Nancijeanne Swanson, passed away peacefully at home on 11/2/24 surrounded by his family.
Connie was born on 3/20/1933 in New Britain, CT to the late Lillian and Karl Eskil Swanson previously residing in New Britain before settling in Plainville. He attended New Britain High School and graduated in the class of 1951.
Mr. Swanson was employed by SNET Co retiring in 1991, and he was a Korean War veteran having served in the Marine Corps. He was an exceptional athlete and enjoyed playing golf as well as spending time with his family. He was a member of many organizations including the Italian Independent Political Club, SNET Pioneers, Timberlin Golf Club, The Spanish American Cultural Club, and was a former member of the SVEA club. He was a man so full of life who could brighten any room he walked into, and he touched the lives of many.
He will be most remembered for his kindness, and for always helping others. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Nancijeanne, he is survived and will be dearly missed by his two sons: Marc Swanson of Quaker Hill, CT and Eric Swanson of Southbury, CT, two daughters: Leah Carbonell and her husband Vincent of Berlin, CT, and Lynn Swanson also of Berlin, 5 grandchildren: Alexandra Hull and her husband Brendon, Samantha Carbonell, Vincent Carbonell, Mitchell Swanson, and McKenna Anderson, his dear friends: Jim Rabis, Charlie Colorisi, Bob Fuller, and Kathy Scacca who visited him weekly while he was ill, and he was also predeceased by his grandson, Chase Anderson.
Connie’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Hartford Healthcare Hospice staff with a special thank you to his hospice nurses, Susan Haswell and Melanie Wilson for their wonderful care and outstanding professionalism while he was homebound. Connie will be missed tremendously.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin followed by burial with full military honors at Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Visitation will be on Friday, November 8th from 4 PM to 7 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
