Cynthia L. Hallenbeck

Cynthia L. Hallenbeck, 74, of Glastonbury CT, passed away on May 30, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family at CT Hospice in Branford.

Born on March 10, 1951 in Waterbury, CT, Cynthia was the daughter of Norman and Marilyn Hallenbeck. After graduating from Rockville High School in1969, she pursued accounting at the University of Connecticut. She dedicated her career to accounting, retiring from Industrial Risk Insurers after 27 years, followed by time working at Easter Seals CT and a particularly rewarding period of time as an A/P specialist at CCAT. Her attention to detail, compassion, and work ethic touched the lives of her colleagues.

Beyond her professional achievements, Cynthia was known for her love of animals, her unique sense of humor, and most especially her love for her nieces and nephews and their families. Affectionately known as Aunt Cindy, she was an expert on all things Connecticut; she served as a decades long tour guide to her nieces and nephews taking them to all the sites, sharing her love of running, and her passion for living life.

On top of spending time with family and work, she was passionate about supporting organizations that she felt strongly about including the Audubon Society of Glastonbury, Fidelco guide dog foundation, Protector of Animals and Donate Life CT.

Cynthia is survived by her sister and confidant Joan Baker; her brother Charles Hallenbeck; sister-in-law Betsy Hallenbeck; nieces Cindy Kobus and Grace Hallenbeck; nephews Scott Baker and Andrew Hallenbeck; many great-nieces and nephews; her beloved cat Gracie, and countless friends who became family.

A celebration of her life will be held at the family's convenience. The family requests that donations be made to Donate Life CT. As an organ transplant recipient, Donate Life is an organization that Cynthia was deeply involved in and held close to her heart.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin is in charge of arrangements.
