Daniel “Danny” Caron, 70, of Berlin, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2025.
Danny was born on January 24, 1955, in Fort Kent, Maine, to the late Ernie and Florine Caron. He graduated from Pulaski High School.
Danny had a love of racing that led him to become a two-time Track Champion, among several other accomplishments, at Plainville Stadium. A lifelong NASCAR enthusiast, Danny aspired to be like his idols, Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. Like Petty and Earnhardt, he, too, loved pushing the limits on the track.
Beyond the racetrack, Danny dedicated over 50 years of his life to his family company, Caron Pipe Jacking, Inc., of Berlin. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 478 for over 40 years. Incredibly mechanically inclined, Danny’s work was his talent—he could truly build or fix anything, often to the benefit of someone else. Just like his father, Danny emulated a work ethic and pride in the business that were unmatched. He worked tirelessly, never stopping until a task was completed and never turning down someone in need of help. The example Danny set is one admired and sought after by family and friends alike.
Although Danny genuinely loved his work, perhaps the greatest part of his job was being able to work alongside family. His relationship with his father was one he cherished. Sharing years together at Caron Pipe Jacking was one of the greatest gifts in Danny’s life.
Another source of pride for Danny was his son, Daniel “DJ” Caron. Watching DJ’s academic, athletic, and professional accomplishments filled Danny’s heart. Just as he would do anything to help or fix things for others, he poured his heart and soul into projects for DJ, too. Supporting DJ’s passion for golf, Danny built him a putting green in the backyard to practice. His love for DJ was steady and unwavering.
Danny leaves behind his longtime, loving partner, Sandy Bernacki of Berlin, Connecticut; his beloved siblings: David Caron and wife Lisa of Plainville, Connecticut; Jackie Mals and husband Jerry of Plainville, Connecticut; and Rachel Caron-Sekoll and husband Rob of Berlin, Connecticut. He is also survived by his former wife, and DJ's mother, Dawn Caron. Danny is predeceased by his brothers Michael and Alan Caron. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
Danny will be forever remembered for his love and loyalty to family, his dedication and unparalleled work ethic, and his willingness to go above and beyond to help anyone in need. His family and friends will miss him more than words can express.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy. from 9 AM to 12 PM with a service beginning at 9:30 AM.
