David Curtis Booth

David Curtis Booth, of Rocky Hill, CT, passed away peacefully at hospice in Hartford, CT on April 6, 2026 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by care and compassion in his final days at Hartford Hospital.

Born on March 6, 1952 to Caroline and William Booth, David grew up in Kensington, Connecticut, and later worked at Stanley Tools, where he was known for his dedication and steady presence. More than anything, David loved life and the simple joys it offered. He found his greatest happiness outdoors, hiking through the wilderness with his beloved wife, Susan, and their cherished dog, Heidi. Heidi was more than a pet – she was his loyal companion and, aside from Susan, his best friend. Together, the three spent halcyon hours exploring the trails of Connecticut and Maine, soaking in the beauty of nature and creating lasting memories.

David was an aficionado of art, lighthouses, and history, with a particular fascination for the Civil War and ancient Egypt. He carried a warm smile wherever he went and had a contagious wit that lifted those around him. Even during difficult times, he never complained. David remained positive, upbeat, caring and kind – qualities that defined him and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He embodied a quiet wealth of goodness.

History has recorded that Alexander the Great wished his treasures to be scattered along the path to his grave, a reminder that worldly possessions cannot be taken beyond this life. David’s true treasures were far greater; his love, his humor, and the fullness of heart with which he lived. These are the gifts he shared freely and the legacy he carries with him into eternity.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Susan, two nephews, Michael and his family in Florida, and John Gregory of Florida, an uncle and aunt in Colorado, and many cousins. He was predeceased by both of his parents and his three siblings; two brothers and a sister.

We will miss you David. Rest in eternal peace with all the love, goodness, and joy you harnessed in your life.
