Dominic Defrancesco

Domenico (Dominic) DeFrancesco, 88, of Kensington, CT son of the late Giuseppe and Caterina (Scarfo) DeFrancesco passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut.  Dominic was born in St. Caterina dello Ionio, Catanzaro, Italy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maria (D'Onofrio) DeFrancesco; daughters, Caterina Geyer; Josephine Marino; Rosa Tralli; Linda Tighe and husband Ted; his two brothers Vincenzo DeFrancesco and wife Angela (predeceased); Nicola DeFrancesco and wife Angela; grandchildren Adam Geyer IV and his wife Alyssa; Matthew Geyer and his wife Stephanie; Justin Geyer and his partner Jacquelyn Bloomer; Nicholas Geyer and his wife Samantha; Paul J. Marino III and his wife Hanna; James Marino and his wife Briana; Tyler Tralli; Samantha Tralli; Neil Tighe; Gwen Tighe; along with eight great grandchildren.

Dominic met the love of his life, Maria, in Plainville, CT and they shared 63 wonderful years together. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather/nonno, and bisnonno, he cherished his family above all else, always prioritizing their happiness and well-being. He was a constant source of strength, love, and unwavering support, making sure his loved ones always felt protected and cared for. His devotion and loyalty were evident in his actions, both the grand gestures and the small, everyday kindnesses.  He believed so strongly in his Italian traditions; Sunday family dinners and making his own homemade wine which he loved to share with family and friends, and truly enjoyed Italian music.

He immigrated to the United States with his family pursuing the American Dream of opportunity.  He became an extremely skilled tailor that would eventually allow him to create his legacy of "Dominic's Men's Shop" along with his brothers Vincenzo and Nicola DeFrancesco. Throughout Dominic's life, he held an unwavering faith in God.  He was a devoted parishioner of St. Paul's Church, Kensington.

Dominic created countless cherished memories with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren including time spent at the beach fishing and crabbing. His kindness, generosity, and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
