NEW BRITAIN - Edward Joseph Tysko Sr., 87, of New Britain, loving husband of Gloria Jeanne (Campbell) Tysko, died Thursday evening at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain, with his loving family at his bedside. Born in New Britain, son of the late Joseph and the late Jenny (Stelma) Tysko, he graduated from New Britain High School in 1943, served in the US Navy in WWII in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Springfield CL-66, and was employed at Landers, Frary & Clark as a senior Tool and Die Engineer until his retirement. He was a member of St. Maurice Church and the American Legion, and was an avid golfer and bowler. One of his proudest moments was visiting and being honored at The WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Donna and David Johnson of West Hartford, Denise and Thomas O'Rourke of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, Debra Tysko of Westbrook, and Diedre and George Tyrrell of New Britain, a son, Edward Joseph Tysko Jr. of New Britain, a brother, Stanley Tysko of New Britain, nine grandchildren, David, Jason and Jennifer Peltz, Sarah Entenza, Aimee Krieger, and Kaitlin, Mathew, Devon and Todd O'Rourke, and nine great-grandchildren. Private funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington 06111.
