Obituary

Frank Mute

July 11, 2003 - June 9, 2026

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Frank “Frankie” J. Mute, 22, on June 9, 2026 following a tragic car accident.

Frank was born in Hartford, CT on July 11, 2003. Known to many as Frankie, he was a bright, funny and hardworking young man who was scheduled to graduate from Lincoln Tech from the diesel technology program on June 12, 2026. There is nothing Frank couldn’t fix. He was constantly tinkering with something, whether it be a car or Rubik's cube, his mind was constantly going. He could look at any car part and tell you exactly what it was, or how to fix it. He had just finished fixing up a truck to ride around in and was very proud of that accomplishment. He was also very sporty, playing wheelchair basketball, football, and baseball. He participated in wrestling and cross-country at McGee Middle School. He was also very involved in Boy Scouts and very active at the Wheeler YMCA in Plainville. He loved animals, specifically dogs and they loved him back. Even the most standoff animals walked up to him demanding pets and butt pats. They could sense the calming and trustworthy energy he exuded. Despite being colorblind, he loved color and saw the beauty in absolutely everything. But more than that he loved telling everyone he met that he was colorblind. He put the most insane outfits together and wore them so well with complete confidence.

Frank always saw the best in everyone. He would do anything for anyone who needed it, constantly making friends with people and taking them under his wing. Even through his stoic demeanor, you felt his love. He lit up every room he walked into with his in-your-face humor and infectious, goofy smile. No matter what he was going through, he made the best of everything thrown at him. Everyone loved him and his beautiful chaotic mind. He was the type of person you felt instantly uplifted and safe with, no matter the circumstance. Always jumping out of the car to give you a hug goodbye, well wishes and to make sure you knew he was there for you for whatever you needed whenever. Even in rough patches he cared so much, and always wished everyone the best. No matter how bad the fight, he always cared and wanted the best for the people he loved.

Frank is survived by his mother, Elisabeth Hayward of Meriden; father, Frank Mute Jr. of Naugatuck; stepfather, Kevin Hayward of Meriden; stepmother, Suzanne Mute of Naugatuck; his brother, Duncan Mute of Bristol; and step siblings, Hunter and Michael Newman of Naugatuck and Merrick Wilson. He also leaves behind his adoring long term life partner Noah Mahler of Middletown, lots of aunts and uncles, cousins and countless friends from all walks of life.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026 at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin from 4 PM to 7 PM followed by a funeral service at 7 PM. A gofundme has been set to help with funeral costs please donate if you are able. https://gofund.me/792526c66
