George M. Garrity Jr.

G eorge Matthew Garrity Jr., age 74, of Plantsville, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 9, 2024.

George is survived by his wife Linda, his three children, Kaelyn (Elliott) Zakem of Natick, MA, Benjamin (Sonise) Garrity of New Haven, CT, Traver (fiancé Andrew Charbonneau) Garrity of Wethersfield, CT and his four grandchildren, Dylan, Camden and Zoey Zakem, and Angéli Garrity. George is predeceased by his parents George Matthew Garrity Sr. and Anna (Kamb) Garrity and brother Paul Halpin Garrity. He also leaves many loved in-laws, nieces and nephews and dear friends.

George loved his family, friends, and any gatherings with them. His joy was knowing that they were doing well. It was the small moments with loved ones that meant so much to George. He was an avid sports fan who loved to reminisce about any and all things sports. Sporting events and food establishments were adventures George always enjoyed taking. He also loved spending time at Timberlin and the Italian Club. Although previously an engineer, his passion was art, architecture, and golf course design. Discovering a greater connection to Christ was a journey he took with his wife throughout their 48 year marriage. Being a husband, parent, and grandparent were the roles George cherished most. He took pride in being with and surrounded by family and was so proud to share in all of their accomplishments. He was a good man with a big heart and a knack for storytelling, sarcastic wit, and dry humor. He was dearly loved and will be truly missed.

Calling hours will be Friday, March 15 from 5-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Saturday, March 16 at St. Paul Church in Berlin. Friends are asked to please meet directly at the Church.
