Gloria Raymond

Gloria Raymond peacefully passed away after an extended illness on April 15, 2015. She was 77. Gloria was born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada. She always spoke lovingly of her father, Willie Cote who passed in 1978, and loved her mother, Antonia Cote until her passing in 1994. She married her man, Norman Raymond almost 50 years ago with whom she had two boys, Scott in 1967, and Jamie in 1969. She deeply loved her boys. They decided to live most of their life among the apple orchards in Kensington, but over the last 12 years, they settled in as empty nesters in Rocky Hill, travelling to Florida to escape the cold winters of the northeast. She adored her 4 grandchildren, Quinn (12), Elsa (9), Zachary and Lucas (3). They were the reason the sparkle lived on in those beautiful eyes. She didn't follow the conventional educational route when she moved to the United States in 1954. Instead, she lived life to the fullest and learned from life's experiences. Gloria was employed at Emhart/Corbin Russwin for over 20 years where she made high security locks. She was an amazing artist, an award winning baker, a bad ass bowler, and played a mean harmonica. She loved to dance, camping with her family, tending the garden, and field trips to the casino. It was her sense of humor, beautiful smile, and sparkling eyes that she will be most remembered for. Gloria's love of family showed when she was with her siblings; Larry, Bert (deceased), Gerald, Noella, Clifford, Camille, Stephen, Diane, and Brian. She had many nieces and nephews for which she always had a special place in her heart. The family will greet friends from 4-7pm on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Kensington, CT. The service will be at 8:45am at Porter's Funeral home on Monday, April 20, 2015, officiated by her brother Deacon Larry Cote. Burial will follow at 10:30am at the State of Connecticut's Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown.
