Henryk "Henry" Szczepanik peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 29th to be with his sister Bronisawa, mother Antonina and father Jan. Henryk was born July 22, 1936, in Lubatowka, Poland and met his bride to be, Teresa. Henryk and Teresa came to the United States in 1963 to make a better life for their family, settling in New Britain. He was a machinist at Atlantic Tool in New Britain over 35 years.
Henryk leaves his wife of 62 years, Teresa, his daughters Mary and her husband Gene, Jenny and her partner Matt and his son Stan. One of Henryk’s great joys were his grandchildren Michael and his wife Emma, Alexandra and her fiancé Robert, Aaron, Aiden, Milena and Eliana. He never passed up the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren. He secretly gave them chocolate and whatever bill he had in his wallet. Shortly before his passing, Henryk met his great-grandson, William.
Besides his grandchildren, Henryk enjoyed being outside working on his garden and doing anything outdoors. Being a baker by trade in Poland, he was known for his pies, cheesecake and other desserts that were shared with his family and grandkids during the holidays. Henryk enjoyed building all kinds of things from wood. All the immediate family have plant stands and frames as a reminder of his wood working. Henryk and Teresa were devoted members of Sacred Heart Church in New Britain.
