James Swiatek Jr., 59, passed away on June 27, 2025. James, known endearingly as 'Jamie' or 'Jim' to his family and friends, was born December 29, 1965 in New Britain, Connecticut to James Swiatek Sr. and the late Margaret Ann Swiatek (Naples). Jim was a lifelong resident of Berlin, from the time he moved into his childhood home on Lower Lane to later raising his three daughters across town. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1984 and was a multi-season athlete with the greatest passion for baseball. As his girls grew up in his hometown, he loved nothing more than catching up with former classmates and friends at the annual Berlin Fair, on the soccer field, or school events. Following high school, he embraced his curiosity for computers in the late 80s tech boom, enrolled in technical school, and spent decades working as a computer engineer. James's favorite places included the Farmington River Trail where he spent many mornings fishing for a lucky catch, swimming in the Cape Cod and Narragansett waves with his kids, and anywhere he could cook up an Italian meal with friends and family.
He is survived by his father James Swiatek Sr., his three daughters Stephanie Swiatek-Satish (Nikil), Melissa Swiatek (Christopher), and Julia Swiatek, his sister Sandra Swiatek, and nephew Evan Scheffler. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Margaret Ann Swiatek (Naples).
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Maple Cemetery in Berlin, followed by a gathering at the Italian Political Independent Club in Kensington.
