After a courageous battle with glioblastoma, John “TJ” Edmiston passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
He was born on September 1, 1960, in New Britain to Mildred and John Edmiston. TJ was a graduate of New Britain High School, class of 1978. Throughout his working life, TJ held positions at New Britain General Hospital and the New Britain Post Office, where he dedicated 31 years of service. After retiring from the post office, he worked alongside family at Sahadi’s Hotties, where he was commonly referred to by family and customers as “Roy.”
TJ was a good-natured and resourceful man who enjoyed working on small engines and fixing things. A natural handyman, he often showed his love through the things he did for others, always willing to lend a hand, fix what was broken, or find a way to help the people he loved.
TJ is survived by his wife, Laine Edmiston; his daughter, Erika (Edmiston) Pilz, and her husband, Kevin; his son, Michael Edmiston, and his wife, Samantha; and his cherished granddaughter, Méabh. He is also survived by his sisters, Jacqueline Sahadi and Janet Manthey; his brother, Ronald Michaud; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin.
