Joseph John Luty

Joseph J. Luty, 73, died unexpectedly November 24, 2016 at home in Southington. A lifelong resident of Southington, he graduated from Southington High School, and was a manager at Folick and Son's for 15 years before moving on to the Hartford Insurance Company and then to Tru-Value in Plantsville. When he wasn't working, he liked spending time fishing, golfing, skiing and enjoying his house on Cape Cod. Joe was an avid reader and a talented cook who always tried new recipes while making dinner for Andrea and her friends, and had a love for collecting things, and if there was ever anything you needed, chances are he had it. Joe's big heart and warm smile will be missed by all who knew him and his many close friends. He is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of 36 years, Andrea (Troup) Luty and their dog, Roxie, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Glynn, and Carolyn and Jack Small, his mother-in-law, Martha Troup, brothers-in-law, Carl Troup and his wife Doreen, Ned Troup and his wife Cortney, and several nieces and nephews, Chris Glynn, Molly Troup, Amanda Troup, Prentice Troup, Ben Troup and Ali Troup. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Frances "Lil" Luty, his father-in-law, Prentice Troup, and a brother-in-law George Troup. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Berlin, on Tuesday (December 6, 2016) from 4-6pm. Services and committal will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450.
