Joseph Francis Stiano, 92, of Berlin, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 23, 2026. He was the widower of Rita (McKenerny) Stiano.
Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Vincenza (Russo) Stiano. Joseph was a long time Berlin resident and a former East Hartford resident. He was a graduate of UConn School of Business. He served in many volunteer positions at the Town of Berlin including as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Berlin Planning Commission. He was active in Scouting and was a former member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was veteran in the Korean war and also worked as an Engineer at Pratt & Whitney for 30 years. Joe was an avid salt water fisherman on Long Island Sound. He loved spending his summers with family and friends at his summer home at Giants Neck Heights in Niantic.
Surviving are four children, David Stiano and his wife Mary-Ellen of East Hampton, Daniel Stiano of Berlin, Laura Padelli and her husband Paul of Madison, and Jennifer Stiano of East Berlin; four grandchildren, Kyle Stiano and wife Debbi, Joshua Stiano, Marisa Padelli and Justin Padelli; and a great granddaughter, Charlotte. In addition to his wife and parents, Joseph was predeceased by his sister, Joan Dorothy Stiano.
Funeral services will be held privately at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin. Burial will be in Maple Cemetery.
