Kathleen A. "Kathy" Bialek, age 70, of Kensington, beloved wife of Thomas Bialek moved home to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Kathy was born to Margaret and Andrew (Jerry) Mals in New Britain on February 27, 1954. A proud member of Pulaski High School's Class of 1972, Kathy's journey from her roots in New Britain led her to Kensington in 1984, where she became a cherished community member. Kathy's career as a Realtor in the Berlin area was marked by her dedication and genuine care for those she served.
She married the love of her life, Tom, in 1977, and together, they built a family filled with joy, laughter, and faith. Their union brought forth four rambunctious boys and eventually five cherished grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply.
Kathy had a great passion for painting, that she expressed through her numerous artworks. Her artistic talent extended beyond the canvas, as she also shared her skills with others by teaching basket weaving.
Known for her culinary skills, Kathy's famous homemade chocolate cream pie and ability to feed a large crowd brought joy to countless gatherings. Her hand-painted Santa Claus cookies, a favorite of young and old alike, were a testament to her artistic flair and festive spirit. These beloved treats were a highlight of her holiday celebrations, bringing smiles and sweet memories to family and friends. One of her favorite verses was Hebrews 13:2, And show hospitality to strangers for they may be angels from God showing up as your guests.
Kathy enjoyed her summers at Cornfield Point, where her eldest son took his first steps, followed decades later by many of her grandchildren. Her days spent by the ocean were joyous occasions surrounded by her extended family and friends.
Kathy's life was deeply rooted in family and faith. She kept the promise to her mother to get the family together on all holidays. Kathy loved to start her day spending time with Jesus and developed an intimate relationship with her savior which helped her embody the values of love and service that defined her. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, involved in nurturing and raising her grandchildren with boundless love.
Kathy is survived by her father, Jerry Mals; devoted husband, Thomas "Tom" Bialek; her four sons, T.J. (Tara) Bialek, Ryan Bialek (Erika Skinnon), Christopher Bialek (Emily Mannes), and Kyle Bialek; her sister, Pamela Blankenburg; her three brothers, Jerry (Jackie) Mals, Peter (Debby) Mals, and Ron (Jan) Mals; and her five grandchildren, Layna, Hunter, Nolan, Paige, and Cade. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart. Kathy was predeceased by her mother, Margaret Mals, and her brother-in-law, Richard "Skip" Blankenburg.
A celebration of Kathy's life will be held on October 12, 2024. Details of the event will be shared at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Show Mercy International, P.O. Box 1003, Port Gibson, MS 39150, a ministry involved in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ by installing wells in villages of Uganda where there is no clean water to drink, bringing many into the faith.
Arrangements are under the care of Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin. The family invites you to share your memories of Kathy in the online guestbook at www.ericksonhansenberlin.com
Kathy's legacy of faith, kindness, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
