Kathleen M. (Sanders) Deliman

Kathleen M. (Sanders) Deliman, 68, of Berlin, passed away on February 26, 2025 surrounded by her devoted husband and daughters, son-in-law, and granddaughter after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on January 30, 1957, in New Britain, she lived a life defined by compassion, dedication, and love for her family and community.

A graduate of Pulaski High School’s Class of 1975, Kathleen pursued her passion for nursing at the UConn School of Nursing, earning her degree in 1979. She dedicated her career to caring for others as a registered nurse, working at New Britain General Hospital and Ledgecrest Health Care Center before serving as a school nurse for the New Britain Public Schools. Her unwavering commitment to the well-being of others left a lasting impact on countless lives.

Kathleen was a woman of strength and kindness, known for her quick wit and compassionate nature. She was deeply devoted to her family and cherished time spent with them. Whether enjoying "girl's days" with her daughters and granddaughter or gathering for family game nights of setback, she found joy in every shared moment.

Her many interests reflected her warmth and creativity. She loved reading, knitting, sewing, cooking, and baking—often filling her home with the comforting aromas of homemade meals and treats. A passionate supporter of UConn basketball, she rarely missed a game. She also found joy in traveling to Cape Cod, where she created cherished memories with loved ones.

Faith played an important role in Kathleen’s life. She was an active member of Saint Paul Parish, the Saint Paul Ladies’ Guild, and the Prayer Shawl Ministry, using her talents to bring comfort to others through service and prayer.

She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 45 years, George; daughters Kristen Deliman Grabowski and Kaitlin (Deliman) Starr; son-in-law John Starr; granddaughter Lilia Grabowski; siblings William (Colleen) Sanders, Stephen Sanders, Michael Sanders, Timothy Sanders, Elizabeth Sanders, Margaret (James) Beaudoin, and James Sanders & his fiancée Maureen McArdle O'Donnell; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, William A. and Marie F. Sanders; her godparents; and several aunts and uncles.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff and oncology team at the Smilow Cancer Center (Saint Francis) in Glastonbury, as well as the entire oncology team on floor 8-1 at Saint Francis Hospital.
