Kathryn (Longo) Cammarota

KENSINGTON - Kathryn (Longo) Cammarota, 99, wife of the late Pasquale Cammarota for 50 years, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Tuesday (February 11, 2014). Born in Foggia, Italy, she came to America with her parents, Matteo and Rosa (Doria) Longo and two sisters in the early 1920's, and they resided in Old Forge, Pennsylvania. Kathryn and Pasquale moved to Connecticut in the early forties, and worked at and owned Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Plainville before owning The Kensington Package Store. She was beloved by all that knew her, and will be missed by all who met her. Kathryn is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Elisa and Steve Zajac of Southington, and Roseann and Robert Kozlowski of Kensington, her grandchildren, Paula and Steven Zajac, Matthew Cammarota, and Carrie Reny, seven great-grandchildren, Sophia and Stella Reny, Mateo and Maribella Cammarota, and Tyler, Alyssa, and Cody Zajac, and her beloved daughters-in-law, Vina Carbone of Wethersfield, and Cheryl Geremia of Middlefield. She was predeceased by two sons, Patrick in 2005, and Frank in 2013, and three sisters, Josephine Attardo, Jean Medeiros, and Maria Andonietta. Funeral services will be held on Monday (February 17, 2014) at 11am at Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Berlin, followed by a funeral liturgy at 11:30am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday (February 17, 2014) from 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Victory Homes of Charity, 780 Ridge Road, Lackawanna, NY 14218-1682.
