Margaret A. Hans

Margaret A. Hans was called home to eternal rest from Midstate Medical Center in the early hours of June 8, 2024 under the loving care of the staff.

Born July 26, 1946 to Margaret Leisengang and Francis Hans, “Margie”, as she was known, was the oldest of five children.  Like her father Francis, the first blind lawyer in NY state, Margaret possessed an amazing intellect and a strong work ethic.  She started working at the age of 16, eventually putting herself through college at Pace University, all while helping her mother care for her siblings after Francis’s passing.  Margie also served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and earned the rank of major before pursuing a career in insurance.  During her time in the insurance industry Margaret worked for several companies, achieved various titles, and collected an enormous group of friends and colleagues.  She was also the greatest mother to her son Marc.  In 43 years never once did he question her support, devotion, and fierce love.  She carried on this quality with the birth of her granddaughter Isabella.  “Grammy” and “Bella” lit up each other’s worlds in a way words fail to describe.

Margaret is predeceased by her mother, father, sisters Patty and Lorelei, and many beloved pets.  She is survived by her nephews Frank and Michael, her sister Corinne, brother Edward and their children.  Margaret’s legacy lives on in her son Marc, cherished daughter-in-law Natalena, bonus son Frankie, co-parent Luis, “fur baby” Mr. Lex, and most of all her “little schnookie” Isabella.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 12 PM to 1 PM followed by a service at 1 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Kensington.  In lieu of flowers please donate to the CT Humane Society.
