Maria (Frances) Del Sesto, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, September 30, 2022 at the age of 76. She was born to Michele and Adele (Santagata) Palumbo on April, 8, 1946, in San Felice, Italy.
Maria came from a large family and was the youngest of five sisters. She emigrated to America in 1956 not knowing any English. Maria excelled in school; she had a gift for learning languages and was a member of the Spanish and French National Honor Societies in high school. She graduated, (on time) from New Britain High School in 1965. Shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life, Antonio Del Sesto. They shared 55 years of marriage, raising a closeknit family and creating many beautiful memories together. Prior to working outside of the home, Maria was a stay-at-home mom until 1977. She quickly ascended the corporate ladder during her banking career, retiring as a Trust Officer and Vice President of Webster Financial Advisors. Spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, was her greatest joy. She also enjoyed travelling, shopping, and day trips to New York City to see Broadway shows.
Maria is survived by her husband, Antonio Del Sesto of Berlin, her four children, Raffaele Del Sesto and his wife Jennifer of Cape Cod, Enza Adamcewicz and her husband Edward of Berlin, Michael Del Sesto and his wife Elena of Farmington, and Alessandra Plomitallo and her husband Anthony of Berlin. She leaves behind eight grandchildren whom she adored; Jordan and Cara Del Sesto, Anthony and Arianna Adamcewicz, Isabella and Michael Del Sesto, and Isabella and Anthony Plomitallo. Maria is also survived by her sisters, Mariantonia Theriault, Elisabetta Liburdi and her husband Riccardo, as well as her dear sister-in-law Cecilia Berardi and her husband Michele. She also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Maria will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Maria’s family would like to extend thanks to the Critical Care Unit of the Hospital of Central Connecticut, Seasons/AccentCare Hospice, and her health aide, Rebecca, from Masonicare at Home for the care shown to Maria and her family.
