“A mother’s hands say I love you without words” - With indescribable pain, the family of Maria Nicola (Farinacci) Campagna let go of their Mother, Nonna and Bis-Nonna’s hand and returned her back to her Creator.
Maria passed away on Sunday, January 26 at home with her family by her side. Maria was a resident of New Britain and Old Lyme and daughter of the late Francesco and Antonietta (Iavenditti) Farinacci. She was the devoted widow of 62 years to the late Vincenzo Campagna. And a member of St. Ann Church in New Britain for 69 years.
Born on December 8th in Gildone, Province of Campobasso, Abruzzo, Italy, she left at the age of 17 to go to Montreal, Canada to care for her brothers. There she met her soon to be husband Vincenzo, and came to the United States to marry and raise a family. Maria was a seamstress in Italy and Montreal and with her special talent made her daughters clothes while they were growing up. She also worked at New Britain General Hospital for 25 years and was the supervisor for the hospital's Coffee Shop.
Maria’s priority in life was her family and her faith. She taught her family kindness and respect for others, to work hard and be thankful to God for all His blessings. She taught her family how to be a strong person, no matter what life sends your way. And not to judge because that was not our job. Maria loved cooking for her family and showed them how to garden. She enjoyed long walks on the beaches of Old Lyme. Her wisdom, hugs, love and laughter will always remain in her families’ hearts.
Maria leaves three daughters, Maria Clement of Kensington, Antonietta Fraello and her husband Sebastian of Berlin, Dolores Carlone and her husband Mark of Kensington and a son Nicola Campagna and his fiancée, Cindy Saucier of Amston. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Adam Pietrowicz and his wife Amy, Danielle Fraello and her husband Brett Garmon, David Fraello, Mark Carlone Jr. and his wife Jessica, Valerie Fraello, Michael Pietrowicz and his wife Courtney, Christopher Carlone and his husband James Schafrick and Nicole Condon and her husband Michael; six great-grandchildren Vincenzo & Bianca Pietrowicz, Reece, Cay & Lyda Garmon, and Sofia Condon. Three sisters in Montreal, Canada - Benedetta Ricciardi, Pierina Farinacci, Pasqualina D’Addario; one sister-in-law Rose Fazio of Plainville. She was also predeceased by her sister Adolorata Farinacci, three brothers: Giuseppe, Giovanni & Angelo Farinacci, a grandson Nicholas Pietrowicz, son-in-law Gil Clement as well as several brother and sisters-in-laws. Maria’s family would like to express their gratitude to the Franciscan Hospice Care for their guidance during this very difficult time. Also, Maria's family would to thank the nurses and staff on W2 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain, and everyone who showed love and respect to their mother during her life. It never went unnoticed.
