Marina Sergeiyevna Zovich, 49, of New Haven, beloved wife and mother, was unexpectedly called by God to join His heavenly choir and sing with the angels on March 11, 2017. Born in Penza, Russia of the late Sergei and Elizaveta Merkoshin, she graduated from the prestigious Moscow State University in Russia, and earned a Master's degree in music education from CCSU. Marina was an accomplished pianist, and talented music teacher. In addition to teaching at Ezra Academy in Woodbridge and in the New Haven public schools, she gave private piano lessons, and led classes in 'Let Your Yoga Dance'. She had a genuine zest for life and deep caring for others. She loved music, yoga, crafts, needlepoint, painting and cooking. She leaves behind her husband, Ralph Zovich of New Haven and Terryville, an older sister Tatiana Samoilova in Penza, Russia, her daughter Anna Plotnikova of Boston, MA, a step-daughter, Rachel Zovich of Wolcott, and step-son Alyksander Zovich of Cromwell, among many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Marina was especially close with her mother-in-law, Theresa Zovich of Kensington. A memorial service and tribute to Marina's remarkable life will be held on Friday, March 17, beginning at 6pm at Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Berlin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent dePaul Society, 19 Jacobs Street, Bristol, CT 06010.
