Maryann V. Dorsey

Maryann V. Dorsey (64) passed away peacefully at home Sunday morning October 16, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was a warrior, the essence of strength and perseverance. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Corrine Mulconry of Hamden, CT.

Maryann attended Norwich Free Academy and graduated from Hamden High School in 1975. Post-graduation she attended Manchester Community College and Central Connecticut State University. She worked for the Hartford Insurance Company as a customer service representative moving her way up to the position of claims adjustor before changing her career to pursue a lifelong dream in patient care. Maryann worked at Ingraham Manor Nursing Home until her retirement in 2012.

Maryann enjoyed traveling to national parks and museums, family vacations to Rhode Island beaches, creating new recipes for family dinners, summer evening happy hours on the deck with her husband, baking with her "Little Love," and reading "Gerald" books with her Sammy. She was an avid reader and could always be found curled up by the fire with a novel or at the local library. Additionally, despite being diagnosed with Multiple Scoliosis at a young age, she loved being active and enjoyed group classes at the YMCA with her friends from Livestrong.

Maryann's proudest accomplishment was her family. She taught us patience, compassion, dignity, and grace through her roles of Wife, Mother, "Grammie," Sister, and Friend. To many, she was the quiet girl in the room, but to those who loved her most, she always knew what to say and what they needed to hear. Her beautiful soul touched the lives of those who were blessed to know her. Her wit and charm will live on in memories and spirit.

Maryann leaves behind her cherished husband of 45 years, Ronald Dorsey of Berlin; her daughters, Noell Dorsey of Somerville, MA, and Ashley Dorsey of Berlin; her son, Jared Dorsey and wife Stephanie Nolan- Dorsey of Newington; her two grandchildren, the light of her life, Grace and Samuel Dorsey; her sister and best friend, Kathy and her husband Jeff Beaty of Rocky Hill; her brothers, Thomas and his wife Alice Mulconry of Battlecreek, MI. and James Mulconry of Colchester; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Monday, October 24, at St. Paul's Church, 467 Alling Street, Berlin. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, New Britain, CT. Calling hours will be held at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, located at 111 Chamberlain Highway, on Sunday, October 23, from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm and Monday, October 24 from  9:00am to 9:30am.
