Michael “Mike” Anthony Black, 52, of Kensington, loving husband of Alicia (Bozek) Black, passed away on November 7, 2025 after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer.
Born in Berrien Center, MI, he was the son of the late Dennis Schuck and Delores (Maglone) Black. Mike proudly served as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy, where he met his wife and best friend, Alicia. Together they settled in Berlin and have resided there for the last 20 years. One of his greatest accomplishments was pursuing his dream of opening his own business as a psychotherapist in town. Mike completed his undergraduate work at UCONN and received graduate degrees from both Post University and Liberty University. He attended Vox Church and enjoyed spending time with his sons Andrew and Carter, and his dogs Rosie, Maggie, and Leia.
Surviving are his loving wife and best friend, Alicia (Bozek) Black; two sons, Andrew Black and Carter Black, all of Berlin; two sisters, Catherine Smith and Janice Smith, both of Michigan; his brother-in-law, Thomas Bozek, residing in Raymond, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife’s parents Maureen (Colwick) Bozek of New Britain, and Andrew Bozek of Meriden. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Nancy Black and Phyllis Black.
Mike’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to all the remarkable individuals involved in his care over the past three years. They especially wish to acknowledge Dr. Brian Byrne, Dr. Christine Bartus, and Susan Haswell and the HHC Hospice team for their exceptional compassion and dedicated support to both Mike and his loved ones.
“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains.” Mike’s family will miss him beyond measure.
