KENSINGTON - Norman A. Paradis, 90, of Newington, formerly of Kensington, the widower of Claire C. (Boissonneau) Paradis, died Monday morning (May 19, 2014) at Jefferson House. Born in Sanford Maine, and raised in New Britain, the son of the late Ligouri and the late Zemma (Haggan) Paradis, he was a graduate of New Britain High School, served in the US Marine Corps in WWII where he was a survivor of Iwo Jima, and retired from Fafnir Bearing Company. Norman was a member of St. Paul's Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, and volunteered his time for St Paul's Church, Meals on Wheels, in Berlin and the Hospital of Central CT. He loved to sing and dance, belonged to a Barbershop Quartet, and was a long-time member of the Bucks ' Does square dance club. An avid Red Sox Fan, he was excited to witness their recent World Series wins. Norman recently celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by his family. He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Philip and Marjorie Paradis of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, Gerald and Marian Paradis of Kensington, Michael and Deborah Paradis of Gastonia, North Carolina, and Donald and Dawn Paradis of Clinton, one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and James Bugella of Berlin, two brothers Clifton Paradis of Newington, and Raymond Paradis of Berlin, eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Philip. Norman's family would like to thank the staffs of Middlewoods of Newington and the Jefferson House for their loving care over the past few years. Funeral services will be held at 9am on Friday (May 23, 2014) at Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Hwy in Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul's Church. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday (May 22, 2014) from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St Paul's Church, 467 Alling Street, Kensington, CT 06037.
