Paul Edward Haynes

Paul Edward Haynes "Papa", 86, of Kensington, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, surrounded by his four beloved daughters, Lori (Butch), Kim (Cliff), Lisa (Brian), and Linda (Kelly). He was the son of the late Carlton and Elsie Haynes.

He is survived by his wife, Vivi, and sons Rene (MaryAnn) and Erik (Maria) and brother Larry (Susan).

Papa Paul's grandchildren are Darien, Brandi, Will, Lindsey, Steven, Jason, Shaun, Kyle, Zach, Marissa, Jake, Troy, Gavin, and Maverick. Papa also left behind five great granddaughters.

He was predeceased by his brothers David, Richard, Gene, and Lenny, and his grandson Dylan.

Paul was deeply loved and respected by his family, and all who knew him. He grew up in New Britain and moved to Kensington in 1964. He was a strong and hard-working father who provided for his large family. He loved taking the family to the camp at Twin Lakes in Salisbury, CT.

As a young man, and the eldest of six brothers, Paul worked to help support his parents and siblings. He loved racing cars at Plainville Stadium and Charleston RI and taking that checkered flag!

Paul owned his own garage on West Main St., NB in early 1960. He worked two jobs at Stanley Works Steel Division/Cold Metal Products for 37 years and Dattco Bus Co., for 34 years.

Paul was known to be a great mechanic who could fix anything and had a tool for every job.

He was a club member of the Spartan Vets and played on their baseball team for many years. He also bowled and played baseball for The Stanley Works Steelers and loved playing horseshoes.

Paul was a longtime devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox, taking his family to many games over the years, and a NY Giants fan. He loved music and he would be tapping his fingers to his beloved oldies.

He was known for his quick wit, humor and his storytelling from days past. He would love to sit at the head chair around the dining table, sharing a meal, and laughing with the family. There were always gatherings by the pool with all his children and grandchildren. He was affectionately called "Papa Pool" for always maintaining it perfectly.

Paul had the biggest heart, was loved by many, and will be greatly missed. He always helped anyone in need. A true gentleman.

We love you Dad & Papa!!!

Our family offers our sincere love and gratitude to all the staff at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving and compassionate care that was provided during Paul/Papa's stay on Floor 5. We love you all!!
