Richard E. Bober, 90, of Kensington, passed away peacefully Monday (July 2, 2018) at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain, after a brief illness. Born in New Britain, he proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and worked as an engineer at New Britain Machine company for over 40 years until its closing. He was a proud, gentle man who loved his family and his church, and was a member of St. Paul's Church in Kensington , a former member of the Knights of Columbus, and was involved in Boy Scouts for many years. He was very proud that all four of his sons and 2 grandsons are involved in scouting. Richard was lucky enough to have the love and companionship of two wonderful women in his life. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Bernice Bober, and leaves behind his loving companion of the past 28 years, Evelyn Cotto of Berlin. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Lee Bober and her husband Michael Stanton of Kensington, four sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Christina Bober of Plainville, Thomas and Donna Bober of Hebron, James and Darcy Bober of Orleans, Massachusetts, and Kenneth and Cheryl Bober of Whittinsville, Massachusetts, a brother-in-law, George Soliwoda, six grandchildren, Michael, Timothy, Kyle, Paige, and Hailey Bober, and Kim Hillman, and three great-grandchildren, Makenzie Hillman, and Kierra and Kayleigh Bober, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Walter Bober, and two sisters, Agnes Carney and Teresa Soliwoda. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Berlin, on Saturday (July 7, 2018) from 9am until the departure to St. Paul's Church for a Funeral Liturgy at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to Boy Scout Troop 256, c/o Caroline Wojcicki, 94 Hickory Hill Road, Berlin, CT 06037.
