Robert "Bob" William Schilling

Robert “Bob” William Schilling, 83, of New Britain, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Hartford Hospital.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Gertrude (Schulz) Schilling.  Bob was a former resident of Framingham, MA returning to New Britain in 2004. He attended New Britain Public Schools, St. Thomas Aquinas High School and graduated from Boston College.  Bob was formerly employed as an accountant, working at Tom Lyons Firestone Tire Co. before retiring.  He was a former member of St. Jeremiah’s Church in Framingham and later became a member of St. Maurice Church in New Britain.  Bob enjoyed college football and college basketball and  was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.

Surviving are four children, Christopher (Pamela) Schilling, Patrick (Suzanne) Schilling, Caroline (Jeffrey) Schilling Waldman, and Margaret Schilling; five grandchildren, Sophie Schilling, April Schilling, Jenna Schilling, Jacob Waldman, and Emily Waldman; and several nieces.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Joan Schilling Morse and Lois Schilling DePolo; a niece, Betsy Morse; and a nephew, Stuart Morse Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Maurice Church.  A calling hour will be Tuesday morning from 9 AM to 10 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics (specialolympics.org).
