Roberta I. Sataline, 89, the loving wife of Frank Sataline of Kensington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories.
Born in Suffield, CT on December 10, 1936, Roberta was the daughter of the late Olga (Bitow) and Samuel Inturrisi. After growing up in New Britain and starting her family there, Roberta became a long-time resident of Kensington.
Roberta met Frank when she was 17 and immediately knew he was the man she would marry. They were wed when she was 18 and went on to raise and enjoy their family together for an extraordinary 71 years.
Roberta used her many talents to support her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, regularly attending sporting events, school concerts, recitals…or simply enjoying time together. Her gracious hospitality and delicious meals made gatherings in her home especially memorable. Family was her priority throughout her life, setting a wonderful example for her children and the generations that followed.
Roberta was intelligent, energetic, engaging, hardworking, artistic, and stylish…and always true to her frugal roots. She had a natural flair for decorating and home design and brought creativity and warmth to everything she did. Her talents shone through in her paintings, the clothing she sewed, and the welcoming home she created. She devoted herself to family, friends, and for meaningful periods to her church community and her children’s schools.
Roberta was a devoted member of the Kensington Garden Club for many years. She attended Kensington Congregational Church, then Bethany Covenant Church in Berlin. Roberta spent several years as a manager at Berlin Savings Bank and later supported her husband’s insurance and real estate agency. She was also a devoted UConn Huskies basketball fan who loved cheering on the women’s team.
In addition to her loving husband Frank, Roberta is survived by two of her children, Sandra Dignard and her husband Frank of Lee, MA, and Frank Sataline Jr. and his wife Carolyn (Wolf) of Farmington. She was predeceased by her daughter, Leslie Riley (son-in-law David of Marlborough, CT). Roberta leaves behind her seven grandchildren, Sara Dignard and her husband David Fesko, Laura McDonough and her husband Kristopher, Ryan Dignard and his wife Christine, Wells Riley and his wife Monika, Adrian Loth and her husband Josh, Jennifer Brown and her husband Michael, and Kathryn Voreis and her husband Elliott; and her fourteen great grandchildren ranging in age from three months to 19 years, Nicholas and Hannah McDonough, Dominic, Samuel, and Frederic Dignard, Evelyn and Ethan Riley, Henry, Natalie, and James Loth, Thomas, Kacie, and Sophie Brown and Wren Voreis.
Our heartfelt gratitude to Beatrice Combey for her kind and compassionate care that allowed mom to be comfortable at home with dad for these final months. Heart disease made Roberta’s final months difficult, and she was ready for her journey to heaven. She will be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
A private memorial service will be held to honor and celebrate Roberta’s life. She will be laid to rest at Maple Cemetery in Berlin. In honor of Roberta’s life and legacy, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to one of the following organizations: the American Heart Association (https://www.heart.org/donate) or the American Cancer Society (https://American Cancer Society).
