Ryan William Griswold, born on February 6, 1985, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on October 3, 2025, at the age of 40. His warmth, compassion, and quiet strength touched the lives of many, and his loss is felt deeply by all who knew and loved him. Ryan spent most of his life as a New Britain resident and was currently building his life in New Milford, CT.
Ryan is survived by his fiancée and soulmate, Lauren Faiella, and their cherished two-year-old son, Kieran Griswold, the light of his life. He was a devoted and loving partner and a proud, hands-on father whose world revolved around his family. He also leaves behind his loving parents, Mark and Vicki Griswold; his brother, Kyle Griswold, his sister-in-law, Alanna Griswold, and their two sons, Owen and James, who adored Ryan as the best uncle they could have asked for. Ryan will be sorely missed by Lauren's parents John and Donna Faiella as well. His extended family and many lifelong friends will remember his loyalty, warmth, and gentle humor.
Ryan found joy in the simple pleasures of life — spending time on Cape Cod, grilling for friends and family, cooking hearty soups from scratch, and cheering on his favorite New England sports teams. He had a gift for making others feel at ease, and he formed lifelong friendships that stood the test of time. In his quiet and humble way, Ryan gave back to his community, volunteering for years with the Prudence Crandall Center, an organization that supports women and children escaping domestic violence — a cause he supported with deep compassion and without seeking recognition.
A funeral service in honor of Ryan's life will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin, CT 06037. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ryan's memory may be made to the Prudence Crandall Center, P.O. Box 895, New Britain, CT 06050 or directly through their website at prudencecrandall.org/donate/.
Though his life was far too short, Ryan's legacy will live on in the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known him. Ryan's last selfless gift of organ donation speaks volumes to the kind heart and soul he should be remembered for.
