Scott Andrew Simard

Scott Andrew Simard, 50, of Berlin, husband of Kara Simard, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain.  Born in New Britain, he was a lifelong Berlin resident.  He graduated from Berlin High School in 1988 and was employed at the State of CT Department of Developmental Services for 31 years.

Scott’s greatest pride and joy were his children.  He was a coach for Berlin Little League for many years and had a special place in his heart for his “Cubbies”.  Scott was an avid Boston Red Sox and Washington Redskins fan.  He enjoyed hunting and will be remembered for dressing up at Christmas time, especially as cousin Eddie.  He was known around his neighborhood for growing the largest watermelons.

Surviving are his wife, Kara (Mayotte) Simard; three children, Duncan, Tristan and Conlan; his father, Lester Simard and his companion Susan Mason; a brother, David Simard and his wife Melissa; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his mother, Nancy (Arton) Simard.

The family will receive friends and relatives to share stories and memories of Scott on Thursday, June 24, from 5-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin/Porters, 111 Chamberlain Hwy, Kensington.  To honor Scott’s wishes, the family asks everyone to dress casually.  Private burial will take place at Wilcox Cemetery, East Berlin.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the benefit fund for the Simard Boys, c/o the Branch Manager of Webster Bank, 40 Webster Sq., Berlin, CT  06037.
