Sebastiano Urciullo

Sebastiano Urciullo, 94 years old, widower of Santina Urciullo, of Berlin, Connecticut passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026 after a brief illness.

Sebastiano was born April 12, 1932 in Solarino, Sicily to the late Francesco and Lina Corradina Urciullo. Solarino is his home town and where he and Santina married in 1955. Sebastiano proudly served as a medic in the Italian Navy and went on to build a fulfilling life as a dedicated mason. Sebastiano traveled from Sicily to the United States back in 1955. Sebastiano joined Santina in New Britain, CT where they made their first home. Throughout his lifetime, he poured his heart into his trade, working tirelessly to provide for his family. His skill and love were woven into the very structures he built, crafting several beautiful brick homes as sanctuaries for his family to reside in. With his own hands, he crafted lasting structures and beautiful homes, taking deep pride in every brick he laid. Among these were a two-family residence in New Britain and two homes in Berlin, where he proudly resided and created a cherished legacy, with two of the homes proudly remaining in the family to this day. Together, Sebastiano and Santina built a life centered on family, taking immense pride in watching it grow and offering steadfast support to those they loved. Their 69-year marriage stood as a beautiful testament to true love and lifelong commitment, a devotion so profound that Sebastiano continued to celebrate every year of their union even after Santina passed away. In his eyes it would have been 71 years on September 14th!

Sebastiano was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend and extended family to many. A man of incredible strength, resilience, and determination, Sebastiano had a generous heart and a fiery spirit. His deep love, playful nature, and unwavering commitment to ensuring that everyone around him was cared for were always evident and made a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. He was a parishioner of St. Paul Church as well as an active member in the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Generale Ameglio Civic Association and Italian Political Independent Club. He enjoyed playing bocce, watching soccer, time spent with family, good food and trips to the beach.

He is survived and will be missed by his brother, Umberto Urciullo and his spouse Amalia Urciullo; sisters, Maria Guercio and Natalina Miano and her spouse Joseph Miano; his three children, his daughter, Santina (Sandy) Gineo and two sons, Francesco (Frank) Urciullo and Sebastiano (Sebby) Urciullo; and his grandchildren, Jonathan Gineo and his wife Chantel Gineo, Danielle Urciullo, Nicole Garcarz and her husband Michael Garcarz, Kimberly Urciullo, Frankie Voisine and Kaitlyn Urciullo. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Anaiya, Carter, Gianna, Luca, Jordan and Brynlee. Sebastiano was also an uncle and cousin to many. He had many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors whom the family is very grateful for.

Funeral services will be held at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home 111 Chamberlain Highway, Berlin CT on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Calling hours will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Church in Berlin, CT at 11:30 am. Entombment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain, CT thereafter.
