Liz was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Leonard Rugens. She was also predeceased by her sisters Mary Wasicki, Carol Harmon, and Jean Genovesio, and her brothers John and Joseph Laczak.

Liz is survived by her son Anthony Philpin and his partner Marleen Grandia of Elmwood, her son Matthew Rugens and his wife Krystyna of New Hartford, and her sister Sophie Lohneiss of Portland.

Liz was active throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling, golf, bowling, card games, and puzzles. She also enjoyed daily walks in the neighborhood, and spending time with her cat Cheddar.
