Stasia Taricani

Stasia Taricani, 87, of Kensington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021 at Southington Care Center.  Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Mark and Catherine Derkach.

Stasia was a long time resident of Kensington, and retired from Emhart Industries.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Kenneth Gustafson and Pasquale Taricani; her sons, Kenneth Gustafson and Gary Gustafson; and her sisters, Ann Marsh and Helen Moisuk.

Stasia was very creative and enjoyed sewing, knitting/crocheting, oil painting, gardening and traveling.  She was a gracious host for family gatherings. She was strong and confident, her family and friends could always go to her for advice and support.

Surviving are her step-sons, David Taricani and his wife Dolores of Southington, Bud Taricani and his wife Virginia of North Carolina; daughter-in-law, Christine Gustafson of East Hampton; sisters, Mary Boccia of Maryland and Julie Aparo of Southington; grandchildren, Britta and Erik Gustafson, Jess McDermott, Charlotte and David Taricani; a great-grandson, J.D. McDermott; a devoted niece, Donna Moisuk of Kensington; and many other nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at St. Mary Cemetery in the spring time.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin is in charge of arrangements.
