It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Timothy (Tim, Timmy, Timmer or TJ) J. D’Addabbo at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on November 29, 2024 at the age of 56.
He was the son of Rita W. Scheyd and the late Vincent J. D’Addabbo and stepson of the late Joseph F. Scheyd. He leaves behind his son Samuel Joseph D’Addabbo and daughter Emma Kathryn D’Addabbo, his loving partner Shannon Hartnett and his siblings Beth-Ann Kennedy (Joseph A.), James V. D’Addabbo and Sheila Marie Rittman (Donald R., Jr.) and his nieces and nephews. He was a role model to Shannon’s children Chase and Lyla Hart Eterginio. Tim was predeceased by a son Timothy W. D'Addabbo.
Tim had an incredible ability to make everyone feel like his best friend. His genuine nature, warm demeanor and magnetic smile left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. On Fridays, you could find him engaged in spirited conversations with friends and colleagues at Vaughan’s, where he was the heart of the celebration and where his presence lit up the room.
Known for his passion for golf and Shuttle Meadow Country Club, Tim started as a bag boy during his youth and was beyond proud to have served the last two years as the Club’s President. He was the current Tournament Committee Chair and Ex-officio member of the Board of Directors. His commitment to the Club spanned 36 years, during which he won countless tournaments and made significant contributions. Tim's love for golf was profound, and among his proudest moments was winning their flight championship with his stepfather, known as “Papa Joe,” in the 1996 men’s member-guest at Isla Del Sol Yacht and Country Club in St. Petersburg, Florida.
A proud graduate of the University of Connecticut (UConn) with degrees in History and Political Science, an avid supporter of UConn athletics, most notably its men’s basketball team. His passion for sports extended beyond fandom; he played for the UConn Golf Team and was the captain of Berlin High School’s golf team. His prowess in sports was evident from an early age, as he was a Berlin High School four-year varsity wrestler who held the speed pin record for 34 years. An avid Miami Dolphins fan and a lover of the Hartford Whalers, Tim's enthusiasm for sports was contagious.
He was also known for his deep patriotism and love for his country; values that he proudly embodied throughout his life.
Tim was employed by Cushman & Wakefield for 30 years, where he was the Executive Director and leader of the firm’s industrial real estate practice. One of the most prominent members of Connecticut’s commercial real estate community, Tim negotiated annually some of the largest and most complex transactions in New England and was renowned for his collaboration with his peers and competitors. He was the heart of the Cushman & Wakefield Industrial team.
An incredibly proud father, Tim loved coaching Sam's little league baseball and youth football teams. He equally loved supporting Emma while she cheered for her school, played softball and explored her passion for theatre. Tim was a role model for Lyla and Chase, providing guidance, support and inspiration in their lives. He cherished the time he spent with Shannon, creating memories that spoke to his love of life and those close to him. Those adventures were filled with lots of laughter, exploration and the simple joys of companionship that Tim valued so dearly. He was truly the ultimate family man.
Tim's memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched as a testament to a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter and a spirit that will never be forgotten.
